The second major ingredient in Claritin, Claritin D and other allergy ingredients is pseudoephedrine. Pseudoephedrine acts as a decongestant, clearing up stuffy or runny noses. Many cough, cold and allergy preparations contain this drug.
Take Claritin as directed on the box. Most Claritin formulas work for 24 hours and only need to be taken once a day. Claritin D-12 can be taken twice daily.
Nasal: Having to do with the nose. Nasal drops are intended for the nose, not (for example) the eyes. The word "nasal" came from the Latin "nasus" meaning the nose or snout.
